The person I talked to at the Plankhouse did not know what the specials were or why they were advertising a $14.99 seafood special on marquee, but she thought it was for Monday, Tuesday,Friday and Saturday! I said today is Saturday, her reply was next Saturday! They no longer offer a senior or military discount, I have eaten there several times because it is convenient! The service is consistently poor and the food is mediocre! Now that they don't, even offer a SENIOR DISCOUNT or MILITARY DISCOUNT their food is not worth paying exorbitant prices for takeout food quality!

Surprised at the high reviews here. Food is horrible, staff is horrible. Went for dinner last year with a large group & I remember everyone was underwhelmed by their food. Same experience this year. I went again for breakfast because it was the only eggs benedict in town & the hollandaise tasted like B.O! It was totally inedible. Staring out at the river is beautiful, I agree but the quality of the fish feels like you're 100 miles inland. Very disappointing. Also, the staff is very disorganized, brings out the wrong orders, yells. I thought one of our servers was drunk! Felt like service at a Burger King & not at a $20 plate resteraunt.

But it does have a nice view of the river! This place is hit and miss. Today was more of a miss according to my Grandma. She ordered the crab, which I cracked for her like a pro! She mentioned that it lacked flavour, and was a tad bit fishy. With a pricey dish like dungeoness crab, it should be amazing. I tasted it, and wasn't impressed either. I had an Omelette, which was fine. The server was a sweetheart. Another upside was my Sister went out into the casino and turned $5 in to $150 in a matter of 5 minutes. Later on she bought a bottle of whiskey, and we got drunk together in Bandon. $50 for the food if I recall.

I had seen all the bad Yelp reviews for the Plank House Restaurant and was a bit reluctant at first to eat there. However, as guests at the casino's hotel, we had a $10.00 dining credit at one of their restaurants, and we didn't want to waste it, so (with uncertain expectations) we chose the Plank House. It turned out that our food was very good and the experience was a pleasant one. I ordered a Sirloin Steak and my friend ordered a Plank House Sampler Plate of various appetizers. Well, it did take quite awhile to finally get our food. . .about 35 minutes. . .but once we got it, we had no complaints at all. My steak was very flavorful (not all restaurant steaks taste this good) and cooked perfectly. My vegetable side dish was snap peas which were sautéed properly with the right amount of crispness. My friend's sampler plate consisted of loaded potato skins, calamari, chicken drummettes, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and chicken tenders with various dipping sauces. It was a lot of fried stuff (and not exactly the healthiest meal), but that's what she WANTED, and she really liked it! Also, I thought everything was reasonably priced. Throw in the fact that we received excellent and courteous service from our hostess and servers, and the entire meal definitely exceeded my initial "uncertain expectations".

We gave blood at the Mill Casino yesterday and decided to eat at the Plank House restaurant. While waiting in line the couple in front of us asked how the food is. We said great. They went in in front of us and we were 1 minute behind them. We did get water. The other couple received their food and with all the help walking around not one stopped. After 30 minutes we got up and left and mentioned that we never got service. We are local and that is unacceptable

Very nice view! Unfortunately the food was well below average. My steak had good flavor, but was not hot, the veggies were cold and undercooked. Mashed potatoes cold as well.My wife's pasta was bland and undercooked . The chicken appeared to be boiled and was flavorless. The server was pleasant, but obviously new and just going through the motions.

My husband and I ate here 7/9/15 and found the meal to be generally disappointing. The combination fish platter did contain some tasty local cod, but the oysters, and other fish were really almost tasteless. The worst thing on the plate was "frozen" clam strips which should have been left off all together. The mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas were terrific. But the fish had all been extremely overcooked. What a shame...there was potential here. The service was marginal with a friendly but inattentive server. We had an opportunity to dine here again but would not consider it.

Went here for Sunday brunch and they had a nice variety of food selections. The made to order omelettes are yummy and so are biscuits and gravy. The service was terrible ! It took over 20 minutes to have someone come take our beverage order. The place was not busy at all and other tables in our area were not getting service either. Our server walked passed us 4 times and never spoke to us. I had to get up and ask the hostess for coffee and Tabasco sauce.

This place is nothing special. Worst fish n chips I've ever had. Nice view but not worth the money

Went to dinner on Wednesday for the 2 for $25 special. We both had the rib eye steak dinner. We ask for medium-rare steak but got it medium. The dinner came with snap peas but the ends still had the stems on, the stems I felt should have been removed. My wife's potatoes were dry. The side salad and stuffed mushrooms were good. The wait staff was pleasant. I still feel the Plank House should be better since that's their #1 restaurant. I did have a dinner voucher and I thank you (The Mill) for that. Will we dine there again ? We will give it some time for improvement. Bon Appetite

To get to the restaurant you have to go thru the casino. That's my only gripe. The smoke filled air is the reason. But service is great. Food is tasty. I had the garlic shrimp appetizer and it was really good. Portion was just enough for what I had in mind. Something lightweight! We also had the Dungeness crab salad. They didn't hold off on the crab meat in the salad. Awesome and very delicious! For dessert we had the chocolate cheesecake. It was perfect! Not too rich. I was in the mood to try their Tiramisu Martini. I will skip this next time. Too thick for my taste. The decor was almost like a ski resort like the main hotel. Warm and inviting. Now the view is worth it. The sunset from the window was very romantic.

Our service was weird. She brought our soup and salad before our appetizer. Also before our cocktails. The appetizer was stone cold ( stuffed mushrooms that were probably good if they weren't cold with raw mushroom caps). I kept stressing we weren't in a hurry but we felt very rushed. Son's Fisherman's platter was good but the rest--- very forgettable. The wait person was stressed and scattered. I won't bring the family back for dinner---

My husband and I have been going to the Plank House restaurant for about ten years. In this time the food has gone up and down in quality. The advertised "new" menu made us think the restaurant was going through an overhaul and things were going to improve. We saw the Coos eggs Benedict on the menu with the crab cakes it looked good, It was a kind of high priced but good crab is expensive. We went this morning, what a big mistake. The waitress said the crab cakes had red pepper flakes, so I thought ooh spicy, I'll take that. The crab was awful perhaps from a can with big chunks of red and green bell peppers, the poached egg was hard cooked, and the sauce was watered down with no flavor. I took a bite, it was awful, I could not eat the rest. The waitress came over about that time and asked how it was, I showed her how hard the egg was, she said she could have the eggs recooked, I said no thanks I already tasted it and It was too bad to eat. I got charged over thirteen dollars for an inedible meal with two bites out of it that's robbery. My suggestion is to hire a real restaurant manager so we can again go have a good meal with a beautiful view.

Edible however disappointing. All the signs around the hotel brag of a brand new menu like they're reinventing themselves. The service was poor, the servers were nice but looked very busy not sure if the food was coming from the other side of the casino but the were hustling not sure if too many tables but that's that. The food: ok, wedge salad was more of an appetizer size and not worthy of the $11, a head of iceberg cost literally about a dollar and my salad had 1/4 of a head, about 2 slices of bacon, 3 slices of tomato some shredded carrots and some crumble blue cheese. About $3 in cost at the absolute most beef if up do a half a head of lettuce in 2 pieces and make it worthy of the $11 price. The kids had pancakes and oatmeal hard to go wrong the fruit cup with the pancake was very nice the toast was cold and hard. My SO had chix fried steak w potatoes it looked just like some greasy spoon institutional food quality. Besides the salad price everything was reasonable, I probably wouldn't eat here again. There are definitely better options in the area.

This is 3 stars because our server was great! The food and price could have been better! It was getting late and we didn't really have time to look around for a place to eat and get diesel so we ate here based on some reviews and looks. Boy wish we would have kept driving. The bread at Red Lobster tastes better than the rolls they serve here. I chose the chicken oscar because it had crab. I should have went with my gut and went with what I love! Steak or prime rib! The chicken was bland! I basically ate the crab and took a few bites of chicken. The pea's were over cooked! The only thing I can say I liked was the salad. They put dried cranberries in it which made it appealing to the palate. I didn't mind the chowder. But I can't say I would like to frequent this place just for the chowder or the salad. I sure hope the other menu items are better than what I had. And come on isn't the casino already filling their pockets from the gambling?

We were with some friends. We all felt disappointed about the food here. Would not recommend it. It is not cheap and food was mediocre. The waitress was very good! The area is pretty. Need to get a better cook!!!

My family always says that you can't find decent seafood in Coos Bay, and in this case they were totally right. The fish was rubbery and tasted like it had been frozen for a year. I've been here a few time before and they have really cheapened up on the food. The server was nice, but they were very very slow. It was never an awesome restaurant, but at least the food used to be palatable.

I have ate at the Plank House a couple of times, both times I have had good food, not great but good. The view from the restaurant is nice. Several reviews have said you must walk through the SMOKEY casino to get to the restaurant that isn't a actually true. You can get to the restaurant and bar next to it by going along the walkway outside on the back side of the hotel/casino. I will go back next time I am in Coos Bay.

The Plank House is the "formal" dinning area in the Mill Casino. As opposed to the buffet and the floor cafe. Our entree's were fish and chips and fettuccine alfredo with bay shrimp. The fish was albacore tuna as the halibut was gone. Albacore tends to be drier, but this was just acceptable, not so horrible you send it back, not so horrible you flame it. The batter was heavy and the chips were just passable as a potato product. The alfredo and plate were blazing hot, meaning it was stuck in the warmer for quite sometime. I'm as certain as I can be, the sauce came from a jar. Another reviewer expressed the same opinion of the ubiquitous "white sauce". If you have a restaurant on the bay and you use tinned bay shrimp, you fail. If those shrimp we're fresh I'm a rhino. Very little about this meal was above average. Both plates were bland and worth a third the price. Just because it's Casino fare does not exempt it from judgement. For a literal money generating machine the food was unacceptable. Everyone has a bad day... Our server seemed to be suffering from having a bad day. No stars deducted for it. Stuff happens. I can highly recommend the desert tray, as it would appear all or most are made on site and to order. This is the only reason they did not receive a single star.

Good food and decent prices. Fresh local crab with the chicken breast was excellent and the lighter portions for kids. Relaxing and nice service. So far the best place to eat in Coos Bay that I have found when visiting that town.

I had a good experience dining here. I ordered the fish and chips and it wasn't bad. We had a late dinner there so there wasn't many people, and we sat by the window but obviously couldn't see outside because it was dark. It's a nice, clean and safe environment. Servers were polite... except for the lady that seated us. She was extremely rude...don't know why. Their desserts were presented nicely and was great! Prices are reasonable.

We had the mid-day salad bar. It wasn't a big salad bar but had everything on it I liked so I rated this a 3. The chowder was good, not great, but pretty good. However, the service was poor. Getting the attention of our waitress and getting served was a little difficult. I would go back just for the salad bar and for the view.

Have been a long time customer of the Plank House, every Sunday after church. We were always very happy with the food quality and the excellent servers, along with the menu choices. However recently menu has changed. It now cost more to get the same items I used to pay less for. Not happy about that. Also most of the servers are new. Don't like that either. Today myself and friend ordered our usual poached eggs with soft yoke. Both orders came out almost hard boiled - they redid them for us and they came back fine on the second try. We are very unhappy with the changes in the menu. If it isn't broke - don't change it. Thank you.

I never go through the casino to get to the Plank House restaurant because I love the outstanding view from the back balcony. I park on the side and walk around to the Plank House entrance in the back, on the bay side where the fantastic views are. I do wish they had a few benches outside where one could sit with a cup of coffee in the winter months while enjoying that stunning view. Once inside the Plank House restaurant, the seafood is always fresh. My favorite breakfast is the Crab Benedict. Yummy. I get hungry thinking about it. The casino servers are friendly local people who are very willing to engage in conversation with the clientele if you have the time to start up a conversation. I highly recommend the Plank House to all my out of town friends. Although some of the food can be average unless its a special or its seafood then its always delicious and fresh. The service is good and it really is the best bay view in town. You'll forget your at the casino and you'll still come out a winner.

This restaurant is a great option when staying at the hotel. Unfortunately, you have to walk through the smoky casino in order to get there :-(. I've eaten there twice, both times were OK. I will give a nod to the clam chowder, it's pretty good and worth the trip.

Typical casino decor/environment but clean and light. View of the stormy bay and green hills beyond with low-flying pelicans periodically. Service was pleasant and prompt but kitchen was very slow. When food finally arrived, was edible but nothing special.

excellent service. excellent food. third time here, and every time has been an enjoyable experience. we've had breakfast and lunch...and very good quality on all the items. your view is the bay...very relaxing. staff is always super friendly and attentive. i highly recommend this place if you're in the area. sure it's inside a casino, but it's a small casino, so it's not hard to find your way here.

nice view. good service. not too pricey. the crab cakes were yum & full of crab, just a little too much hollandaise sauce on top..really they should have left off the sauce..
